Mystery Mum is off again, enjoying the long, late summer days and discovering parts of Surrey never explored before!  A spot of horse-racing, some fascinating science and exploring the depths of the county’s beautiful countryside… there is just so much fun to be had.  But, are these family friendly destinations as welcoming as they could be?  Mystery Mum finds out!

Nonsuch Park
Ewell Road, Cheam, SM3 8AL
Not a mile or two away, just over the dual carriageway, is the lovely Nonsuch Park, the rambling parkland on the site of Henry VIII’s Tudor hunting lodge.  The lodge is no longer at the site, but there are acres of grassy fields to run thought, with ancient trees to climb, woody knolls to hide in  and windy paths to follow.  With an extensive network of both surfaced and unsurfaced paths it is ideal for a family ramble, or a trip with scooters or bikes.
Upstairs, downstairs… The Service Wing of Nonsuch Mansion
Much of this beautiful Georgian building is used for private hire and weddings.  You will often see the wedding party sipping Champagne on the terrace.  However, the service wing of the mansion house is sometimes open to the public and it’s really worth a visit.  Seeing the old mangle in the laundry, the huge copper cooking pots in the kitchen and the open fire, is a peek into life “below stairs” in a mansion like this.
Brand new coffee shop… The Pantry at Nonsuch
A brand new coffee shop in a beautifully refurbished part of the mansion house is a delightful place to stop after a walk round Nonsuch.  With a seasonal menu featuring freshly prepared hot and cold dishes it is a welcome addition to the site.  The ambiance is light and airy and don’t even try to resist the cakes and sweet treats on offer.
Highchairs: Yes.
Children menu: Lots of appropriate, fresh and healthy items.
Buggies: Plenty of space for children and buggies welcome.
Parking: Lots of free parking at various points around the park.
Toilets and baby changing: near The Pantry.
