Our Wedding Planner’s Wedding Plans

Posted by Nonsuch Mansion

Have you ever wondered what happens when a wedding planner is planning her wedding? Nonsuch Mansion’s own Jade Tombs will be marrying her beau Ollie this summer.

Here’s a little update from our inhouse bride-to-be…

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all well and keeping out of the snow!

Benita, Lucy and I thought it would be good idea to share my own wedding planning journey with the brides and grooms that we are helping. It is definitely strange for me to be on the “other end” of the process! Here is a little blog update to tell you where I am up to.

Being a bride-to-be has taught me that it is all too easy to get caught up in the little things (the fluffy stuff) and actually forget the bigger picture of a wedding day. I’ve always believed that 80% of what makes a fantastic wedding is the atmosphere. I also know that my guests will remember my wedding for the food they eat, the drinks they drunk and fun they had. Also, I have learnt to take advice from my friends in the industry. Even though I have organised hundreds of weddings in my job, it’s refreshing to hear a different suggestion, idea or opinion from people I trust.

I feel lucky to have our Little White Book at my disposal, it has given me a huge headstart on booking the best wedding suppliers in London and Surrey. People who I’ve booked so far include:

* the amazing Lloyd Dobbie http://www.lloyddobbie.com
* videographer John Harris from http://www.ivpweddings.com
* gorgeous Charlotte from Restoration cakes http://www.restorationcake.co.uk
* Paul from Alpha Marquees
* the incredible James Taylor – an acoustic guitar singer who’s going to melt all the girls hearts!
* fab Steven Boys from First Dance DJ’s http://www.firstdancedj.co.uk
* Flowers are next on the list – still trying to find the perfect someone to help!

And, of course, Julie and the team at Bovingdons will be providing the delicious food.

We’ve already had our tasting and I am so excited about the menu. The food was first class, amazing, the tasting proved to Ollie and my family exactly why I am taking the Bovingdons chefs all the way back to Oxford. I wouldn’t have anyone else cater at my wedding, it’s easy to see why Bovingdons win awards for their food. Ollie and I have chosen a Summery menu starting with tomato trio, then a chopping board of lamb, with dessert of a lemon panacotta for the girls (served on a pretty vintage pink glass plate) and a gorgeous chocolate  desert for the men.

My dress (top secret, because Ollie reads this blog!) arrives this week, so let the diet and fitting commence. The Jimmy Choo’s have be bought, but remain in their box until the big day – although every now and again I open the lid and have a chat to them! Bridesmaid dresses are with the tailor, and the suits are hung in the wardrobe ready to go – as you all know and can tell, I am super, super organised.

Next step: our pre wedding photo shot  here at Nonsuch with the lovely Lloyd – photos to follow!

All the best
