The Nonsuch Big Band in the Park is one of the longest running and most anticipated events in the Nonsuch Park calendar.

Organised by Nonsuch Rotary and The Friends of Nonsuch, it sees the lawns and gardens of Nonsuch Mansion packed with people enjoying a little summer sunshine, a drop of chilled fizz and a lot of irresistible music.

Following its great success in 2009 and the sell-out in 2010, ‘Big Band in Nonsuch Park’ will be held this year on mid-summer evening,

Friday 24 June when the regular BBC Big Band guest conductor Jay Craig, will again be bringing his own star-studded orchestra and vocalists to the Park.  Money raised from the event will be divided equally between the Friends of Nonsuch charity and Nonsuch Rotary’s trust fund.

Among the stars promised are Matt Skelton, one of UKs top drummers, Andy Greenwood leading UK trumpeter and high note specialist and three other well-known performers in UK Big Band circles, alto saxophonist

Colin Skinner, trombonist Andy Wood and pianist Bunny Thompson, all performing in the highly successful 19 strong ensemble.

Included among the locally based organisations expected to benefit from Rotary’s share this year will be The Forces Children’s Trust, which supports children who have lost a parent serving in the armed forces, and the Macmillan Butterfly Centre at Epsom Hospital and its linked centre at St Helier which support cancer sufferers.

People stream into the Park on Big Band night clutching their tickets, picnics, drinks, tables and chairs with smiles of anticipation on their faces.

Tickets are £15 in advance (£18 on the day)
