Your Surrey Wedding – Winter treats

Winter has always been a time for celebration – the magic of Christmas sweeps over the icy months, and you can’t help but get caught up in the festive cheer. And that’s why so many couples are now choosing to take advantage of this time of year by opting for a winter wedding.

Julie Gray, managing director of the events team at Nonsuch Mansion and founder of caterers Bovingdons, says:

“We’ve seen an unprecidented rise in the enquiries for 2010 / 2011 winter weddings, particularily for February and March. This is not simply a case of savvy couples making the most of off-peak pricing, it’s all thanks to the weather that we had at the beginning of last year. Snow – or even a sparkling frost – can be breathtaking and magical and couples know that even the merest hint of it in the air can create more excitement and anticipation.

“Hot food is also a winner in winter, so it’s a great time of year for a foodie to wed. British seasonal ingrediants come into their own and markets are groaning with fabulous and inspiring ingrediants ready to be transformed into comforting feasts; dark venison, local game, Cumberland sausages, braised red cabbage, forest mushroom soup. Finish with nostalgic favourites such as sticky toffee pudding and fruit crumbles before passing round jugs of hot chocolate. Mouthwatering and delicious.”
